Spinach/Strawberry Salad Recipe

Here is a great recipe for spinach salad. Lois got this recipe from a cookbook the Camrose Choir group created for a fund raiser.

1 Ib fresh spinach
1/2 cup almonds, slivered
1 pint fresh strawberries

1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp sesame seeds
1 Tbsp poppy seeds
1 1/2 Tbsp chopped onion
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup cider vinegar

Combine dressing ingredients in a jar, shake to blend. Let stand. Clean and tear the spinach. Clean and slice strawberries, toss in almonds and pour on dressing just before serving.

Silk bridal shawl finished!

Leave for San Francisco for the wedding in 2 days and have finished the white 100% silk bridal shawl! Used the Peacock Shawl pattern in Handwoven's Design Collection 19. Woven on my AVL workshop dobby loom with computer interface. Also took pictures along the way and created a mini-album for the bride so she could see the weaving steps involved to create it. Double click on the photos to get a better view of the pattern. Lois Larson

Welcome to Our New Blog!

Welcome to our new blog! The executive has decided that it would be nice to have a way to communicate with its members in between newsletters and to let potential members learn a little bit about us. The site will provide us a place to post news that sometimes will be too late if put in the newsletter and to keep you up to date on exhibitions you can take part in, conference updates, and of course to brag a bit about our great members.

If you choose to be a follower you will be notified when new items have been posted. You may also choose to bookmark or add this site to Favorites and then check every so often yourself to see what we are up to.

In May we held our annual conference at Olds College. Although attendance was not as high as usual, I am sure all attending would agree it was a great conference. Next year's committee is already working hard at planning the event - 2010 will be hosted by the Edmonton Weaver's Guild at Kings College.

After the conference some of our members headed down to ANWG. They set up a booth for us there and I am anxiously awaiting pictures or news on the event.

We will also have a booth at Fibre Week - June 27 to July 1 (Olds College). If you would like to learn more about us and are in the area, please come visit.
